About Ed

Ed Mann was born in New York, just as the Cold War was raging at full tilt. He spent most of his elementary school years mapping out the local fallout shelters on Long Island and hiding under his desk. After moving to Northern California at age 10, Ed discovered his lifelong passion, radio, and in the mid-70s, ventured south to Los Angeles to attend UCLA, where he began his career on the air. Along with the 19 years Ed spent hosting radio programs in Southern California at KIIS-FM, KBIG and others, he co-founded Premiere Radio Networks, the largest radio syndication company in the country, and currently runs MannGroup Radio, a boutique syndicator of radio programs and services, as well as a podcast company, Mann Web Podcasting. Ed also works as a jazz musician and composer, and heads his own band, the Mann Sextet, which appears all over the Los Angeles area. His love of writing came from devouring Time Magazine every week, and early jobs editing the Daily Bruin while at UCLA. Ed’s written multiple columns for radio trade outlets like Radio Ink and All Access, and he keeps his headphones warm and ready should a radio station be foolish enough to call him for an airshift.
